Global Enrichment Foundation’s Convoy for Hope
We at Chobani believe in giving back to help make the world a better place, which is why we founded the Shepherd’s Gift Foundation, and recently donated $1 million to the Global Enrichment Foundation to help famine relief efforts in Somalia through the Convoy for Hope program.
The second of five convoys took place January 18th-23rd, and we’re happy to report over 6,000 people received food aid through this effort alone. The Convoy for Hope famine relief effort will provide life-saving aid to approximately 200,000 Somali people during an emergency that the United Nations has declared “the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.” Now that’s ‘nothing but good’! Here are some faces and stories from our second convoy.
Habiba Mohamed Kheir and her three brothers are a few of Somalia’s growing number of children who have been orphaned by a devastating famine sweeping the region. After Habiba’s parents died in August 2011, she and her brothers were brought to the Kabasa displaced peoples camp by relatives, walking for over one month and covering some 250 kms to arrive.
We’re fortunate to be able to aid Habiba and thousands of other children and adults hit hardest by the famine. And we couldn’t help those in need without your support, so thanks for helping us change the world one cup at a time.
